River Swim

Thames swim

The River Swim 2018 is cancelled, due to a number of safety issues.
We hope it will be back in 2019!

Without a Swim Captain the leadership of swimming events has fallen to those with other responsibilities. To ensure continuity of the River Swim please consider taking the role of Swim Captain for next year. Click here for more information.

The SLSC River Thames swim is a one-mile summer evening swim down the Thames from Kingston Bridge to the Royal Canoe Club at Trowlock Island, followed by beer and barbecue. Drift down the Thames having a nose at the gardens of the riverside houses or compete for one of three club handicap and open cups.

Wetsuits are allowed – but you won’t be eligible to win a cup as neoprene makes you too fast!

After the swim, grab a drink from the canoe club bar and tuck into a delicious barbecue. We can’t think of a better way to spend a summer Friday evening.

Open to SLSC members only.

This event can only take place if there is the correct ratio of support kayaks to swimmers. This year we need kayakers with their own kayaks (minimum age 16 years). Please encourage your friends or family to Kayak. Kayakers don’t need to be members of the SLSC. An added bonus is they get the BBQ free!
