Water Polo at Tooting Bec Lido and Brockwell Lido

SLSC water polo sessions during the Winter

Covid 19 (Coronavirus) update - sessions will resume on Sunday 20 September 2020.

Our planned outdoor Summer season at Brockwell and Tooting lidos didn’t pan out due to COVID-19 but we’re excited to announce that each week our ever growing squad will be training indoors at warm water facilities for the winter.

We will hold weekly recreational water polo ‘skills and drills’ sessions at St Joseph’s College, Beulah Hill, West Norwood SE19 3HL which are open to all levels of skill and experience. These coached sessions are for all genders, abilities and ages. Whether you are a seasoned player or an absolute beginner – come and give it a go. Our head coach Steve Baker will be ensuring that we remain compliant with Swim England’s COVID-19 guidelines for water polo and we’ve worked closely with the facilities staff at St. Joseph’s to ensure we work together to mitigate COVID-19 related risks. More details of this are below.

Indoor “winter” training sessions from September to May are held at St Joseph’s College Pool at 5.15 - 6.30pm. Arrive at 5.00pm to be in the water by 5.15pm. We also play “friendly” matches against London League teams during the week.

Season runs from Sunday 20 September to 14 December excluding half term.

Open to all SLSC members, £10 per session. All sessions must be booked in advance. You will need to register with the booking system the first time you book. First-timers don’t have to join SLSC until their second session. Due to COVID-19 there will be a strict 25-person maximum per session.

Book a session

To participate you should be a competent swimmer who is comfortable treading water at the deep end for long periods of time. To avoid injury, no goggles, eyewear or jewellery can be worn during the sessions. We recommend you wear disposable contact lenses in case they get splashed out during the session. All you need to bring is your swim suit and a towel (to keep warm in case its chilly!). Water polo caps and everything else you’ll need is provided by the club.

We are looking forward to returning with sessions at to our ‘true dual homes’ in both Brockwell and Tooting Bec lidos from May 2021. The 2nd annual Brockwell Water Polo Cup will be held in June 2021.
